Once upon a time we had a question: what about vegan shoes? People who don't want to eat meat, should not wear leather. But what do they put on their shoes? After all, it's not only the leather: contact glue also comes from animals.

Searching and searching we found Green Shoes in England, a lovely shoemaking shop... Which had vegan shoes and courses on shoemaking. We could not let this opportunity pass to learn new methods and how to work new materials. Meeting shoemakers abroad was also thrilling.

A few weeks ago we got a special request: the mother of a 12 year old girl, prescribed with orthopedic insoles asked us to make a pair of summer sandals.

A true challenge. Sandals are an open shoe, and it is almost impossible to buy one that can hide an insole while preventing it from escaping through the tip or the heel. After thinking for a while and making all the required measurements, not only of the feet but also of the insoles that should be hid, we designed this model.

The final result is a shoe, an open and ventilated sandal, keeping fresh feet all summer long, but with a fancy tip and heel to keep the insoles from escaping. The insoles are also invisible from the sides, since they have a reinforced leather side around the soles.

Even if making orthopedic shoes is not our goal, we are very happy with the result of the "Pretty & Healthy"... a name we think is true to form.

We have available in our online store these wonderful espardiles, for a lucky person with a 40 (European) feet.

We have nicknamed them Cherry Blossom because the fabric motive reminds us of the freshness of fields filled with cherry trees starting to bloom, and the leather strips are cherry red.

The fabric of these espardiles is 100% coton with a satin finish, giving a bright outlook to this Japanese  pattern.

The strips holding the cloth to the toecap and the ankle are leather, with a width of 1cm.

The espardile ties around the ankle with a cloth strip with the same pattern as the toecap. The length of this strip is 48 cm.

The heel, of type topolino is 7cm high. It is covered by vegetable fibers and the sole is made with crepeline, perfecly anti-slip. The insole is made with authentic cow leather, dyed in brown.

Ready for your purchasing pleasure: these beautiful boots for a lucky person with a 40 size (European size).

They are called Little Mermaid, since their shape and colour reminds us of the ellegance of a mermaid.

The reed of the boot is a grayish blue, with a scale texture and peach skin feeling.
The toecap is yellow suede and the heel is also golden yellow, but this is normal leather to make it easier to clean if it gets dirty after a day's walk. We have added a small detail in the front of the boot with the same golden yellow leather.
The boot zips on the side with a golden metallic zipper. In the beginning the zipper may feel strong, but it will get smoother with use.

All leather is cow leather, lining and outside alike.

If you have any doubt about the ease of fitting, just have a look at the picture where the reed is unzipped: the reed is soft and smooth, it will adapt to your step without resistance.

Total height of the boot is 48cm.
The heel is 7cm and the sole is crepelina, a durable and antiskid material.
The reed is standard-sized, with a  diameter of 35cm. Be sure to measure your calves before making the purchase... And remember that if these boots would not fit you, we can make a similar pair for your exact size :-)
